Former Hostages Reunited with C-130 Pilot Four Decades Later

NewsCentral Producer

A retired U.S. Air Force pilot is reunited with a group of hostages he rescued from the Congo more than 40 years ago.

Those rescued came back to the Museum of Aviation Friday.

The former hostages wanted to see the C-130 aircraft involved in their rescue and to meet the pilot who led the mission.

Friday was the first time the pilot, Mac Secord, and the rescuees, were reunited with the plane.

Marilyn Wendeler told WGXA, “We had stopped thinking about it. This was the last step. We were anxious to get here. “

The former hostages came from California, Florida and Tennessee to see the aircraft.
