Fatal Fire Under Investigation

An early morning apartment fire claims the life of a Macon man.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones tells NewsCentral, a 56-year Ronald Kennedy was found deceased by firefighters on the sofa of his apartment that was fully engulfed in flames.

Jones says firefighters were called to the Colony West Apartment complex on Bloomfield Road just before 2:00 a.m. on Monday.

Jones says firefighters were able to contain the blaze to a single apartment.

An autopsy is planned for Monday afternoon. The fire remains under investigation by the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department.
