Fans turn out for NASCAR driver David Ragan fan day

NewsCentral Staff

NASCAR fans had the chance to get up close and personal with a hometown driver Thursday.

A fan club day was held for number 34 driver David Ragan at David Ragan Ford in Perry. It's the first time an event like this has been held in the Macon area since previous fan club days have been held in Charlotte.

Ragan has returned home briefly before competing in a Labor Day weekend race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

"We've got a fan club that is a big supporter of my racing career. We try to give back to the local community. We work with some of our sponsors, our distributors to provide some entertainment, drinks and food for everyone and get geared up for the race weekend," said Ragan.

Ragan displayed his Daytona 400 trophy and his 2012 Sprint Cup car at the fan club day. He also took time to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.
