NewsCentral Staff

Georgia's animal facility for emergencies is now open at Fort Valley State University.

The 7,800 square foot SAFE Center for animals can hold up to 80 cats, 105 dogs and 30 horses. The center is geared toward housing animals in emergency cases such as natural disasters or animal abuse situations.

This facility is the only one of its kind in the state. The school is planning a ceremony to celebrate the opening on September 12 at 10:30 a.m.
