FAA gives approval for unmanned drones to fly over Central Georgia

The Federal Aviation Administration has given the go ahead for unmanned aerial vehicles, better known as drone flyers, to begin more test flights over Central Georgia.
The Twin Star 2 UAV will soon begin test flights from the aviation campus of Middle Georgia College. The FAA recently granted the school a second certificate of authorization to fly and test the drone.
Chad Dennis, a program coordinator with the Georgia Center of Innovation for Aerospace, says the Dodge County Development Authority is acquiring a site located about six miles from the airport and the aviation campus that is suitable for test flights.
The aircraft will be used for agricultural sensor research as well as training of unmanned aerial systems flight crews consisting of aviation campus interns, faculty and staff.
