Elderly Woman's Death Ruled a Homicide

This lady of 87 years old, in her own house, and dead. Someone just snuffed her life out, just like that." -Leon Jones/Bibb County Coroner

Christine Cook's death marks the 15th murder this year in the city of Macon. Cook was found dead in her home Thursday Morning, her car missing and her jewelry box ransacked.

An autopsy on Ms Cook was performed Friday morning, the result was death by asphyxiation.

"The manner of death is a homicide and that's a tragedy. Anytime there's a homicide it's a tragedy but this really touched me." -Leon Jones/Bibb County Coroner

Neighbors in the area are confident that the police will bring the killer to justice.

"Well I think they're gonna do the best job that they can do I'm sure they're going to put all or as much manpower and resources into it as they could possibly do." -Emory Kitchens/Neighbor

Jones agrees the police are working hard on the case but says they need the help of those in the neighborhood

"If anybody knows anything or has seen anything. Seen anybody that normally doesn't go to that neighborhood, Call CrimeStoppers or either call Macon Police. Nothing is too small to notify the Macon Police Department" -Leon Jones/Bibb County Coroner.
