A new restaurant in downtown Macon hosts its grand opening to the people of Middle Georgia on Wednesday.
Dovetail opened its doors officially by welcoming people to eat at the casual fine dining restaurant. The downtown establishment is based on a farm-to-table idea featuring mostly local produce, meats and dairy products. The owners of The Rookery opened Dovetail. They say they want to celebrate southern crafted meals and the tradition of farming.
"We're trying to be on the cutting edge of fine southern cuisine,” Dovetail Co-Owner Wesley Griffith said. “Fun table, locally sourced, fresh ingredients and you know we think if we reach the level we want to reach than we think we can be a regional draw.”
To go with the southern theme, instead of bread, diners will be served boiled peanuts and given peanut brittle instead of a breath mint at the end of dinner. The restaurant will be open Tuesday-Saturday 5-10 p.m.
