Department of Corrections hosts job fair for vets

NewsCentral Staff

The Georgia Department of Corrections hosted a job fair to connect military veterans with law enforcement agencies Wednesday, at Tift College in Forsyth.

The six agencies at the event looking for workers included the Department of Corrections, Juvenile Justice, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Department of Natural Resources, Pardons and Parole, and Public Safety.

A spokesperson for the GDC says the agencies have a combined 800 jobs they are looking to fill. More than 200 veterans registered for the event.

"It's the exact type of individual we're looking for as agencies, somebody that's dependable reliable, good ethics, good character, they're already trained and ready to go so it's a win win for everybody involved," said State Board of Pardons and Parole, Director of Parole Michael Nail.

The agencies also offered demonstrations to get people more interested in their line of work.
