Fallen Firefighter Remembered by Family and Macon-Bibb Fire Department

NewsCentral Staff

Friends and family members of a former Macon-Bibb Firefighter and Danville City Councilman gathered to say their final goodbyes on Saturday.

The funeral for Jack Scarborough, 42, was at New Providence Baptist Church in Jeffersonville. Scarborough died Tuesday from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Friends and colleagues said they appreciate his decade long service to the fire department and will remember him always lending a helping hand.

"He was a giving person,” Macon-Bibb Fire Department Chief Marvin Riggins said. “He was one of those people who was a steadfast person, who was steady. He was always there and you could depend on him."

Scarborough was buried next to the church. He is survived by his wife and son.
