DA Remains Tight Lipped on Davis Shooting Case

NewsCentral Staff

It's been nearly two weeks since Sammie Davis, Junior died at the hands of a Macon Police officer, but few facts are being released about the investigation.

WGXA’s questions have been hitting a stonewall of silence from those involved. WGXA tried speaking with District Attorney David Cooke before Wednesday's county commission meeting. He refused to comment on the Davis case saying the investigation is now in the hands of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Late Wednesday afternoon, the GBI's office in Perry confirmed District Attorney Cooke's assertion.

Agent Rodney Wall says they will review the entirety of the case, and turn over their discovery back to Cooke.

49-year-old Sammie Davis, Junior was shot three times in the chest by officer Clayton Sutton on December 21st in the parking lot of Kroger on Pio Nono Avenue. Davis died shortly after the shooting.
