Councilman Accuses Attorney of Physical Confrontation
Macon Councilman Larry Schlesinger says he wants an outside attorney currently working for the Fire and Police Pension Board to resign or be fired.
At today's pension board meeting Schlesinger made the accusation that after the last board meeting attorney Bob Lovett approached Schlesinger and a confrontation ensued.
"Mr. Lovett's physically aggressive behavior towards me, a client of his own firm was undoubtedly inappropriate. Unquestionably unprofessional and more akin to the conduct of a playground bully then of the fine upstanding attorney that he purports to be." -Larry Schlesinger/Macon City Council
Lovett says the allegations are baseless.
"I think its out of place to use this forum. A public forum. To vent a political anonymity." -Bob Lovett/Attorney
Another point of contention was the fact that there was no city attorney present at the meeting and the question was raised as to whether that means the meeting is illegal.
"I made the motion to cancel the meeting because we did not have a City Attorney present. The motion failed for a lack of a majority. So it became in my estimation, if that should be true, an informational session." -frank Tompkins/Macon City Council
If the meeting is determined to have been illegal any and all action taking during the meeting will be considered invalid and action items would have to be voted on again.
