The Cherry Blossom Festival has a permanent leader just in time for the opening of the festival's new souvenir shop.
Jake Ferro, the festival's interim president and CEO since October, was promoted Monday to take over the position permanently. Cherry Blossom supporters also took the day to celebrate the opening of the festivals new souvenir shop on Mulberry Street.
Ferro says great things have been accomplished so far during his tenure and he expects to keep the momentum rolling.
"We'll lead a real good team and then build on it in 2013 and make it a little better in 2014, a little better in 2015 and teak here and there wherever we can to make it better for the community because it's all about love beauty and international friendship," said Ferro.
The Cherry Blossom Festival has a number of upcoming events including a children's art contest and a First Friday event at the souvenir shop.
