Cherry Blossom Festival CEO Resigns After 4 Months

NewsCentral Staff

Macon's Cherry Blossom Festival is officially without a CEO as Richard Brewer steps down just 4 months after being named to the position.

The festival is known as one of the top twenty events in the south and one of the top fifty events in the entire country. It has grown over the years to feature hundreds of events over a ten day period, celebrating Macon's designation as the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World.

Brewer's resignation comes four months after he stepped into the role of president and CEO in June.

WGXA has learned that Brewer still has family in the Charleston, SC area and has chosen to return home and to resume work in his consulting business.

Festival organizers are currently speaking with several candidates to take on the CEO position on an interim basis until after the 2013 festival concludes.
