Central Georgia Fire Crews Stay Busy Monday

NewsCentral Staff

Monday was a busy day for firefighters around middle Georgia and here in Macon.

Crews responded to a home on Ashford Chase Court in north Macon Monday afternoon. Thick clouds of black smoke could be seen for miles. The owner of the property maintains the garage and rents out the home.

Firefighters were able to protect the house from the flames and damage. No one was injured. Investigators are on the scene. The cause has not been determined.

Unadilla Fire Crews were also busy Monday. Dry conditions in Dooly county led to a fire that was extinguished by the Unadilla Fire Department.

Crews were able to successfully stop a brush fire from threatening neighboring structures and property on Sugar Hill Road.

Firefighters warn low humidity is continuing a very high danger of fire weather conditions in the area. Windy or breezy conditions can allow any fire to spread rapidly.
