UPDATE: Car Flips, Second Driver Hit in I-475 Accident

WGXA has learned new information about an accident that happened Saturday night on I-475 near the Bolingbroke exit.

According to witnesses, 28-year-old Jacqueline Plant, of Baldwin County, was driving a Silver Saturn without the headlights on. Witnesses reported that Plant was crossing multiple lanes of travel when she struck a Chevy SUV in the right real panel.

The SUV was being driven by 34-year-old Estella Cortez of Michigan. The SUV, after being hit, flipped over the guardrail and landed on its roof in a wooded area past the shoulder of the interstate.

Plant's Saturn struck the median head-on.

Plant proceeded to exit her vehicle and attempted to cross the interstate and was struck by an unknown vehicle.

Witnesses pulled Plant from the lanes of travel to safety.

Plant and the five people in the SUV were taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia with injuries.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate this accident.
