Bond Granted for MPD Officer Arrested for Fight

Macon Police Officer Anita Harrell will not be on patrol tonight. Instead she's on administrative leave and facing charges of simple battery and violation of oath of office.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred around 3:45 Saturday morning at this Waffle House on Pio Nono Avenue.
According to the police report, Officer Courtney Colemen arrived in the parking lot of the Waffle House and saw Harrell talking to Officer Witherspoon. Coleman and Harrell reportedly exchanged words then Harrell allegedly hit Coleman in the face. The report says a minute long fight ensued which was broken up by officer Witherspoon.
Neither of the officers reported any injuries that required medical attention.
Harrell is suspended pending termination. The Internal Investigations division of the Macon Police Department is handling the case.
Harrell is free from jail on a $6,200 bond.
