Bond Denied For Teen Charged With Murder

A Kathleen teenager accused of killing her sister and setting their family home on fire will remain behind bars.

Houston County Superior Court Judge Katherine Lumsden denied bond for 17-year old Carmen Kaneisha Collins at a Thursday morning hearing.

Collins is accused of shooting her 13-year old sister, India Collins, to death in their Addington Drive home on July 3, 2012. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to Houston County Sheriff's Office investigators, Collins obtained a .40 caliber handgun and shot her sister multiple times before using gasoline to set the inside of the home on fire.

Collins then fled the scene in her family’s 2011 Acura TL automobile with the suspected murder weapon and the family’s dog.

Carmen Kaneisha Collins is facing first degree arson and murder charges.

She is being held at the Houston County Law Enforcement Center.
