NewsCentral Staff

It's been a long process but the selection of a new director for Bibb County Animal Control is complete.

The citizens advisory committee started out with 30 applicants for the position, they narrowed that number down to two. Bibb County Commission Chairman Sam Hart interviewed those two applicants and today made his nomination for the position.

At a special called meeting of the Bibb County Commission today Sam Hart nominated Sarah Tenon as the new Animal Control Director, that motion passed 4 to 1.

"I come in believing that its a community effort.I am looking forward to getting the community involved because this is Bibb County as a whole animal control program." -Sarah Tenon\New Animal Control Director

The only vote against the appointment was Joe Allen. Allen is the lone commissioner not on the animal control committee and says he simply does not have enough information to make a decision.

"I had not even seen the resume' that she had sent in. And I'm one of the 5 county commissioners. I just felt like, being left out of the process, I couldn't vote for somebody or anyone that I did not know enough about. Either one of the two people that were up, either one of them." -Joe Allen\Bibb County Commissioner

The next step for Bibb Animal Control and the advisory committee will be choosing a location for their new shelter.
