Bibb BOE Takes First Look at FY 2014 Budget

"Well its very frustrating. You try to look at budgets from a business standpoint and the way it looks, we are going to be operating at a $12 million deficit so we're going to have to make some tough decisions. We are depleting that reserve fund down and its going to be....it doesn't look good." Jason Downey/Board Member.

One of the items Superintendent Dallemand says is on the table is the possible privatization of some departments such as transportation. Dallemand did stress that department privatization has not been discussed so far and would not include layoffs.

The board plans to have at least two more work sessions on the budget before the initial vote in May and final vote and adoption in June.
