Bibb BOE Takes No Action on Dallemand Contract

NewsCentral Staff

The called session of the Bibb Board of Education came to order at 5:02. They immediately went into executive session and were not heard from again until 8:26

In the meantime, the room filled up with members of the public including Macon City Councilperson Elaine Lucas, Head of Macon's Democratic party Sarah Hunt, and former mayor C.Jack Ellis. They were there to see if the board would take a vote on the future of Superintendent Dallemand's contract.

Dallemand had reportedly been seeking a buyout of his contract, and it was suspected that the buyout would be the topic of discussion during the executive session.

When the session was over, no action was taken. Dallemand said afterward that he will serve the length of his contract, he refused however to answer if the contract was in fact the topic of discussion.

"You know I cannot and will not be one to violate the conversation that occurs in executive session. That would be a violation of the open meeting law." -Romain Dallemand/Bibb Superintendent

There are two cases against the board going to trail Friday. One of those deals with the contents of Dallemand's contract. Board members approved two motions that will allow the members that have been Subpoenaed as well as the attorney, to testify about the contract and the items discussed during that negotiation.
