Baldwin Students Get Reality Check

NewsCentral Producer

Students at Baldwin County High School receive a lesson on the reality of life and the value of a dollar.

Tenth graders spent the afternoon in realville where they made real life decisions when it came to balancing their budgets. Students had to decide which items, such as housing, transportation, utilities, day care and more would fit their yearly budget.

The goal was for students to purchase one of each item and come back with at least one dollar left in their account.

Ashley Marcott of the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce says kids don't understand how much things cost. Marcott says the budget exercise encourages them to stay in school and reach for their dreams.

The next reality check will be held on Wednesday at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville.
