The attorney for a Macon mom charged with the murder of three of her kids is speaking out on behalf of his client.

In a statement, Attorney Reza Sedghi says there are no words to describe the grief his client Colethia Williams is feeling. He says she deeply cared for her children and thanks god one child survived the fire.

Sedghi calls it an extremely tragic situation that the children lost their lives in the house fire. He says quote-- "It's equally tragic the District Attorney's office has chosen to charge her with murdering her children, a crime she did not commit." --end quote.

The 29-year-old Williams made her first appearance in Bibb County magistrate court on March 14. She faces three counts of felony murder, four counts of cruelty to children in the second degree, and one count of felony false statements.

Three kids under the age of 10 died inside the James Street home. Police say Williams told authorities she left the children alone and unsupervised.

"There are no words that can describe the grief and pain that my client is feeling at this moment. Colithea (SIC) deeply cared for her children and raised them by herself without any help. She was thrilled when she was able to finally get approved to purchase a house on James Street where they could live. It is extremely tragic that three of her children lost their lives because of a fire that consumed the house. We are thankful to God that one of her children is alive and doing well. It is also equally tragic that the District Attorney's office has chosen to charge her with murdering her children, a crime that she did not commit." - Reza Sedghi, Attorney
