Adoption Agency Raises Big Money with Run

NewsCentral Staff

Runners in Central Georgia hit the pavement to raise big money for a statewide adoption agency on Saturday morning.

More than 400 people participated in the 3rd annual Ridge Run 5K at Ingleside United Methodist Church to benefit Covenant Care Adoptions. Money raised from the event benefits the non-profit agency based out of Macon that helps people wanting to adopt and people giving up children. Development Director, Stephen Story said the Christian based group is different from other adoption agencies because they rely mostly on donations and fundraisers for their income.

"We need the support of the community so that we can continue to provide services to woman who are pregnant and in difficult situations and so that we can provide for babies who need a home and families who want to adopt children into their families,” Story said.

Story said they raised more than $20,000 and the agency plans to run the event again next year.
