A local attorney who died earlier this week is remembered by many people including a former U.S. president.
More than 100 people gathered at Vineville United Methodist Church on Saturday to say their final goodbyes to 87-year old Frank Jones who lost his fight with leukemia on Wednesday. Jones was an attorney for 60 years representing clients as famous as the Coca Cola Co. in cases that reached the U.S. Supreme Court and recently lead Georgia's fight against federal health care reform. Georgia native and former U.S. President, Jimmy Carter came to pay his respects. President Carter said Jones was one of the finest men he's ever met.
"He was wise, he was kind, he was gentle, he was a superb lawyer,” he said. “I think he represented the best in human kind and he devoted his life to the benefit of other people."
Jones was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon.
