MACON, Ga. (AP) - A Mercer sophomore found dead in his dorm room in mid-November died of natural causes.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says Ronald Quashie died of pneumonia. Quashie's death raised concerns at the campus, where officials suspended Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity over the treatment of pledges. Quashie was an APA pledge.
University police chief Gary Collins said the chapter told the pledges what to eat, trying to restrict them to healthy foods.
Mercer students reported the hazing concerns a week after Quashie's death, though officials found no evidence that the death was related to hazing.
