More Regulations for Macon Massage Parlors

Linh Bui

More and more massage parlors are popping up in Macon, and elected officials are finding out what really goes on inside.

"There are activities that are going on inside that are illegal. We know that human trafficking is involved in this,” Rabbi Larry Schlesinger says.

Council members Larry Schlesinger and Erick Erickson have proposed legislation to crack down on human trafficking and prostitution.

The proposed legislation regulates massage establishments.

For example, to own and operate a parlor, you'd have to go through an extensive background check and get recommendations from upstanding people in the community. Parlor owners would also have to make sure all employees have massage licenses, and the store would be required to maintain accurate records of all their customers.

"We know there are improper things going on in these establishments so it's now time to put the rules and regulations into place,” Schlesinger says.

The Macon City Attorney's Office is now formatting the legislation, and then Macon City Council can discuss and vote on it. Schlesinger says most council members understand the reality of this growing problem. And if passed, the legislation could go into effect in the next few months.

"Obviously, we do not want Macon, Georgia, to be known primarily for its massage establishments,” Schlesinger says. “We know we can do better. We know that as a community, we are better."

How many police officers will be called off their investigation of wrecks, robberies, rapes, and murders to check on who is in a massage parlor? These two should be off Council.

Why dont twiddle dee and twiddle dumb try to do something that needs to be done, like reduce the size of city council instead of reducing how many massage parlors are here in Macon. I dont feel we need just as many city councilmen as we have massage parlors either

Erickson and Schlesinger need swastikas to go along with their Fascist Idealogy. Hitler would love these two!

Liars! There is no trafficking going on and we don't need any new laws. Erickson is a Fascist!
