A Griffin man is in jail after leading officials on a high speed chase through Jones County.
Jones County Sheriff’s Deputy Sam Beard tells FOX24 News, they’ve arrested 39-year-old Mark Crownover of Griffin. His charges include: fleeing to elude, failure to stop for a stop sign, reckless driving, speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road, criminal damage to property and leaving the scene of an accident.
According to Beard, the half-hour chase happened Thursday. Deputies were responding to a report of a suspicious person. When they tried to stop a vehicle matching the description, Crownover failed to stop, running through stop signs, a power line and a fence. He even sped through a school zone.
"It was time for school to let out and he was headed back toward the school,” Beard says. “And in order to stop a risk of maybe a child getting injured, the order was given to take the subject off the road."
Deputy Paul Hathaway used a “Pit” maneuver to force Crownover off the road by hitting him and causing him to spin out.

Way to go Jones County Sheriff's Department! They are the hardest working force I know of - now if they would or could only patrol Hwy.49 a little more and shake some of those none driving dummies up! Folks driving on this road are dangerous! I watch and hold my breath every day that it doesn't rain. But thank you Jones County for a safer county, due to your hard work.
