Georgia/Georgia Tech Fans Rally in the Alley

Kendall Herold

Football Fans put on their game faces in preparation for the biggest college football game of the year in the state of Georgia; The Georgia Bulldogs versus The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. A tradition that takes to the field after Thanksgiving each year.

For over 100 years, the Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets have gone face to face after Thanksgiving for what fans call a 'Clean Old Fashioned Hate', celebrating the rivalry between the two state institutions.

Newtown Macon helped to host the Rally in the Alley, gathering rival fans together in the Mulberry Lane Alley in Downton Macon.

Kris Attaway with NewTown Macon says, "Everybody loves football, and NewTown Macon really wants to bring people downtown. We have a great downtown, and one of our biggest treasures is our alley."

Attaway says NewTown Macon has hosted three Rally in the Alley tailgate events this football season, but the Georgia-Georgia Tech game has by far drawn the largest crowd.

"Especially these hard economic times, everybody loves football, it's something you can come together over. Cheer your team on, and have friendly rivalry and competition."

The game kicked off at 8 PM at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta.
