Enjoying Holiday Dishes, but Keeping Off the Weight
Delighting in Holiday dishes like grandma's famous pumpkin pie or mom's turkey stuffing may be delicious at the time, but overindulging could lead to extra unwanted pounds. FOX 24's Michelle Apon is sharing tips on how to keep the holiday weight off.

Black Friday has commenced and some middle Georgians are not spending time with shopping, few are hitting the gym to keep off the holiday weight. Gyms, Health clubs and fitness centers, usually the slower period of year are actually seeing business pick up even in off season.
General Manager Whitney Woodard says, "I think people have finally realized that working out is a lifestyle change, so instead of coming in January we are seeing the slower months picking up with more people coming in."
Gym member, Yerby Billingsley says that New Years and right before summer should not be the only times when gyms should be at their busiest, "If you want to main your youth, your vigor, your energy, the best thing to do is workout year-round, make it apart of you, make it apart of what you do, not just something you do for summer months or to work off what you ate during the holiday season."
Woodard says that in addition to keeping the holiday weight off, one must come to gym three times a week doing 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes weight training.
Setting a routine by using cardio machines like the jogging on the treadmill or using a stationary bike and then pumping iron will make you feel less guilty for overindulging in specialty holiday dishes.
Woodard says, "The main thing to remember this holiday season is just portion control and staying active. As long as you stay active you should not gain those extra pounds."
The gym may sometimes be intimidating to those who have never stepped foot in a gym but there are people there to help you use machines and answer questions.
Lastly Woodard says, "I know a lot of people might be intimidated by a gym, but it's really a family oriented place, bring a friend or family and have somebody there to motivate you. We have trainers here and staff that is here for you at all times to help you out with anything."
