Macon Teen Charged With Attempted Murder

A Macon teenager is behind bars after police say she shot a woman five times on Montpelier Avenue.

Macon Police Department Public Information Officer Sergeant Zachary Self tells FOX 24 News, 19-year old Courtney Samone Shumaker of Macon, is charged with criminal attempt to commit murder. Self says Shumaker shot 24-year old Renisha Wheeler in the arms, legs and buttocks at a store on the corner of Montpelier Avenue and Pansy Avenue on Monday.

Self says Shumaker was arrested on Gordon Street in Macon. She is currently being held without bond in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

The shooting remains under investigation.
