According to a news release three separate fires have displaced two Macon families and one Fort Valley family from their homes.
Volunteers and staffed responded to the 100 block of South Montrose Street in Fort Valley around 9 am.
According to the release, the fire took the home completely but a 10-year-old child was able to get the family out of the Fort Valley home safely.
Ryan Logan/ Emergency Services Director, Red Cross:
"She knew what was taught to her in school, she touched the back of the doorknob to find out it was hot, uh, knew not to open the door to spread the fire. She went and actually got her family up out of bed and got them safely out of the house."
Logan says the two Macon fires caused minor damages but the families are still displaced from their home.
The Red Cross is assisting all three families with food, clothing, and lodging.
