Robins Air Force Base Symposium

Larry Spruill Jr.

Companies from all over showed up to the 2009 Robins Symposium.

The businesses got a chance to sell their ideas to Robins Air Force Base, hoping to strike a deal. With over a 1,000 people representing about 300-400 businesses they all have one common purpose, and that's to make a connection with Robins Air Force Base.

“I'm looking for business opportunities. The base has a lot of opportunities. They do over 5 billion dollars worth of business each year. I'm hoping to find or get additional business for my company,” says Gary Cox with Nav Com Defense Electronics.

Gary Cox is among the hundreds of businessman at the Georgia National Fairgrounds, hoping to snatch that promotion with the base. “We’re looking for expansion, looking forward to enhance our recognition in the local community and also help the war fighter.”

Commander Polly Peyer with the Warner Robins Air Logistic Center believes this symposium can contribute to the base. “This is a strategic plan that we have. The strategic plan is to develop the industrial base, so it has the capability and capacity to be able to meet our needs.”

A need that both local businesses and the base can benefit from. “Robins certainly benefits from it, because from it because it does allow some of our contracting and our industry partners to understand the direction that we're headed and what our requirements look like,” says Commander Peyer.

The symposium will conclude Thursday at the Georgia National Fairgrounds with a general session.
