Dog Dies In Gray House Fire

Portia Lake

Officials with the Jones County Fire Department claim lint build up in a dryer is believed to be the culprit of a Plantation Cub Circle house fire.
According to fire officials, homeowners Leon and Lisa Kitchens were not at home during the blaze, but their dog was inside and perished in the fire.

If you'd like to make a donation to help the family, you can donate at Piedmont Bank in Gray or the Jones County Board of Education where Kitchens is an employee. The couple has two sons in elementary school.

This is the reason we never leave our dog inside the house, the fear of a fire. Our friends ask us how many fires we have had and we answer, NONE, but once would be enough to kill our beloved pet. It is a sad time to lose a "family member" and our prayers are with the family.
