Both Drivers Killed in Head-On Collision

Linh Bui

Two drivers are killed in a head-on collision in Houston County.

According to a press release from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, the deadly wreck happened around 6:30 pm Friday on GA-247 near Beaver Creek Road.

The release says 29-year-old Valona Jo Wright of Hawkinsville was northbound in a Honda Accord while 48-year-old Sue Ann Bray of Ellijay was southbound in a Nissan Altima. According to the release, the Honda crossed over the line and struck the Altima head on. It says both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, and an 8-month-old male passenger in the Honda was treated and released from Perry Hospital.

The release says officials don’t know if alcohol or drug impairment was involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Valona's memorial service was today at 4p at St. Thomas in Hawkinsville. From my understanding, I think her mother came down and took her body back to Ok. So sad bcuz her own kids where not even able to go to there own mother's actual funeral! :o( RIP Valona!

Does anybody know when Valona funeral services will be? And no drugs or drugs this was just meant to be. We all have our day coming and we all pass in different ways. What does it matter is it not enough that on both sides family and friends are hurting right now. I thik everybody needs to quit pionting fingers and blaming one or the other. This was just the way God meant to take them. I am a firm believer in if it happened it was meant to be.

This is truly a sad accident for both families.I knew Sue very well and she was always smiling and loved her family very much. She will be missd very much and I pray for both families. That little boy will grow up w/out his momma and Sues family will have to cope with not only the loss of her but 2 days later her mother died to. Its just a sad story all the way around.

How can you say that the 29 yr old was not on drugs. Just because you went to school with her doesn't mean that she couldn't have started. I hope that she wasn't, but you can't just assume that she not. I hope that they get to the bottom of this also.

This is an unfortunate event. I wonder if the 29 year old driver was under the influence of something, or fell asleep. I hope the investigators can figure this out. God bless the little boy.
