Cadwell Man Drowns In Laurens County

The body of a Cadwell man is pulled from the Oconee River in Laurens County over the weekend.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources Spokesperson Rick Lavender tells FOX 24 News 58-year old Armando Juarez Plaza was swimming in the Oconee River when he drowned. Lavender says Plaza was swimming across the river with three friends when he went under and did not resurface.

Laurens County Coroner Richard Stanley tells FOX 24 News, the victim was pronounced dead around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Shady Field Boat Ramp.
