3 FL siblings appeal GA bank robbery convictions

NewsCentral Staff

ATLANTA (AP) - Three Florida siblings involved in a cross-country crime spree are appealing their convictions in the robbery of a south Georgia bank.

Ryan Dougherty, Lee Grace Dougherty and Dylan Dougherty Stanley last month pleaded guilty before a federal judge in Valdosta. They were each sentenced to 35 years and 8 months. Their spree began in Florida and ended in a shootout in Colorado.

All three have filed notice to appeal their convictions to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

A lawyer for Stanley declined to comment Wednesday. Lawyers for the other two didn't immediately return messages.

The three have pleaded guilty to Colorado charges stemming from their capture in August 2011.

They still face charges in Florida, where they are accused of shooting at an officer during a high-speed chase.
