NewsCentral Staff

The first day of the 23rd annual Museum of Aviation Foundation Golf Tournament is in the bag.

Teams tee'd off at the Pine Oaks Golf Course at Robins Air Force Base Thursday. It's the biggest annual fundraiser for the museum. Last year's event raised over $305,000 with proceeds going to operating expenses, but more importantly, funding education programs.

"Last year we got to about 50,000 kids trying to get them interested in STEM programs, that kind of a career ahead of them and the things they could do it, how they can make some money and have a good future," said President of Museum of Aviation Foundation Pat Bartness.

To date, the tournament has collectively raised over $5.65 million for the museum.
