2012 Georgia National Fair Underway in Perry

The state's largest fair is officially underway in Perry.
Music lovers spent their Thursday night dancing to Macon's own "The Grapevine Band" as the Georgia National Fair kicked off.
Crowds of people enjoyed plenty of rides, food, competitions and exhibits. Turnout for the event was great for the first night. And the good news is, festivities will continue for 10 more days.
Schedule for October 6 -- Legislative Livestock Showdown
During the 2nd annual Legislative Livestock Showdown, several Georgia House and Senate members will compete in a special heifer showmanship class. The legislative members will have an experienced youth livestock show participant as their "teacher."
The 1st place winner will receive 10 points; the 10th place winner will receive one point. Scores will be tallied and the winning team will be presented with the Showdown Trophy.
FAIR COMPETITIONS
1. Livestock -- hogs, heifers, steers, dairy cattle, goats, horses, rabbits, llamas, lambs, and commercial dairy heifers.
2. Georgia Living -- Antiques, Fine Arts, Hobbies, Culinary, Food Preservation, Textiles, and Horticulture.
3. Youth -- 4-H, CTI, DECA, FCCLA, FFA, HOSA, SkillsUSA, TSA
REAVES ARENA CONCERTS
Approval from the entertainer's management is required for photos, video, and interviews. This is the only way permission will be granted. Please contact managers as noted below:
