2 fatal Ga. aircraft crashed linked to pilot error

MACON, Ga. (AP) - Recent reports by the National Transportation Safety Board have revealed two fatal aircraft crashes stemmed from pilot errors.
Pilots were found to be at fault in a fatal small plane crash in January 2012 and a hot-air balloon crash in March 2012.
Former Coliseum Health System CEO Allen Golson and his wife flew from Macon to Ocala, Fla. to meet a real estate agent last January and crashed short of an airport runway. Authorities say 55-year-old Golson failed to maintain adequate airspeed and altitude on his final approach toward the Ocala International Airport. His wife survived the crash.
A March 16 hot-air balloon crash killed 63-year-old Edward Ristaino of North Carolina near Fitzgerald. Authorities say he intentionally flew during storm conditions and crashed.
