Lester Miller discusses the lawsuit filed to halt the upcoming election for several seats on the Bibb County Board of Education.
The suit was filed on June 26, 2012 in Federal Court. The three plaintiffs in the case, local Attorney Lester Miller, who is running for the District 4 seat, Brenda Sutton who is running for the Board's District 1 seat and Board Member Gary Bechtel.
The plaintiffs allege that the districts for Bibb County School Board elections presently being used by the defendants (The Bibb County School District, Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections and Elaine Carr, in her official capacity as Executive Director of the Bibb County Board of Elections and Voter Registration) became unconstitutionally malapportioned in light of the 2010 census.
