We are now less than twenty four hours from Election Day 2012.

As the clock ticks, candidates are making their final appeals to undecided voters, and in recent weeks, some local campaigns have gone quite negative. Turn on your t-v and you can see the flurry of attack ads.

Voters have endured plenty of mudslinging this political cycle, from the presidential campaign ads, to state and local elections.

“Yeah I'm just getting tired of hearing it, " Jones said with a chuckle.

George Jones is like a lot of voters we spoke to, hours away to the polls opening for election 2012.

"Politics are dirty,” adds Jastin Merkson, a Bibb Voter. “It's a lot of seeing who can get to the top first," and they're doing it with campaign ads. The consensus of voters says they're over them.

"I think that the country is kind of split on if they want something new or if they can even trust what any of the politicians are saying these days," adds Allen Schmitz, a Bibb County voter.

Anna Neal says it’s a distraction, "It has caused so much confusion among the voters and among citizens that are going to vote."

Jerome Bryant lives and Bibb County and says all people are flawed, even political candidates. "It's just that everybody is human,” he adds. “We just have to except the way that they are."

One local race that's gotten ugly is the race to Bibb County Commission Chairman. Both Hart and Wagoner have negatively critiqued each other in local debates. WGXA spoke with them and they both say, it was never meant to get that bad.

"I've done everything I can possibly do to not attack my opponent,” says Tom O. Wagoner, a self-proclaimed businessman at heart.

Current Commission Chairman, Samuel F. Hart Sr. says now they should just move forward. “You know what I think what people want us to do is to move ahead and to move this community forward,” Hart adds. “I am sort of at the place where I think that is where we want to be."

Even though Hart and Wagoner have different political view, they are on the same page about what should be done in the last hours leading up to Election Day.

Wagoner shares his agenda, "I am going to go to a couple of different places for lunch today and talk to people and restaurants and later today I'm going to be standing on a street corner waving at people and passing out free water."

As does Chairman Hart, "You know we are still waving, still making contact, and still doing robo calls, but I think more than anything else we encourage folks to vote." Both waving, trying to get voters out to the ballot boxes on their behalf.

Local voters say they are just look forward to the results.

"Enough talking, “says Allen Schmitz. “It's time to see what the outcome is."

Jastin Merkson waits patiently, "I guess we're gonna have to see what happens."
