Macon Area Unemployment Up

NewsCentral Staff

More central Georgians were looking for jobs in January according to the Georgia Department of Labor.
Between December and January the number of unemployed workers in Macon rose from 9.1% to 9.4%. That's still better than January one year ago when one in ten people were out of work.
Meanwhile Warner Robins also saw a bump in unemployment from 7.5% to 7.7% between December and January.
The Georgia Department of Labor blames a loss of Holiday jobs, and lay-offs for most of the increase in unemployment.
