A court hearing to decide how Peach county will divide its sales tax revenue has been postponed until next month.
Fort Valley Mayor, John Stumbo, said the Wednesday hearing was postponed to the give local leaders more time to agree on a new distribution of the local option sales tax.
Stumbo said the county and cities missed a state imposed deadline agreement in October.
Byron and Fort Valley officials have to decide a new lost distribution every 10 years which is a state mandate.
The county is demanding at least 60 percent of the sales tax revenue, but the city says it deserves more than the 31 percent it currently receives.
Stumbo said a court hearing has been scheduled for Mid-February.
