Local microbrewery underway: Macon Beer Company

Two businessmen are going to be brewing beer close to home for downtown residents in Macon.

Jeremy Knowles is the founder and President of Macon Beer Company ,"Well we started a microbrewery." He and his college roommate, Corey Smith the C.E.O. & Vice President, Macon Beer Company, have decided to open a microbrewery in Downtown Macon. Smith shares his feelings as the business venture begins."It's exciting and scary."

Jeremy and Corey are the owners of Macon Beer Company and they are joining the downtown movement.

Mechel Mckinely is the manager for Main Street Macon, an organization collaborating to bring life and business to Downtown Macon. She shares the stage that Macon Beer Company is approaching, “I have actually met with the Macon Beer Company and they are currently looking for space to place the brewery."

As they search for a final location, the business partners are putting the finishing touches on their plan to brew and sell what they consider a local attraction.

"We're just trying to produce and sell beer and bring something different to Macon," says Knowles.

"It's going to be a big deal for downtown. We are going to bring some jobs in. We are also going to be a part of a nationwide beer revival and it would be nice to bring some of that attention here," adds Smith.

Attention welcomed by organizational responsible for downtown development. Mckinely says, Main Street Macon is can’t wait. "We're really excited and we think it going to be a great tourism product as well as something for our local community to enjoy."

Corey Smith believes, "Macon deserves something like this. It's a great town."

The company believes Macon’s unique characteristics will take their microbrewery far says Knowles, "We really appreciate the historic nature of Macon, the old architecture."

As they figure out what's to come of Macon Beer Company, that want to remind their future customers how to make Macon a better place to live.

"Support downtown and enjoy things locally," says Smith.
