Florist Shops Are Swamped With Crowds Days Before Valentine's Day

NewsCentral Staff

Local florists are swamped as they gear up for their busiest day of the year.
WGXA stopped by Lawrence Mayer Florist in downtown Macon on Tuesday.
The shop's owner, John Mayer, said he is ready for the big rush.
Mayor said he has been preparing for Valentine's Day since November.
He said roses and tulips are the most popular items on Valentine's Day.

" They are (flowers) for all celebrations in life," said Mayor. " So, I think flowers are a luxury and they are a sign of the old saying 'a sign of gracious living,' and I think that's right."

Mayor said he has been working longer hours as Valentine's Day draws near.
