Law Enforcement Conference Underway In Macon

Conference Honors Fallen Macon Police Department's Swat Commander

Law enforcement officers from the across Georgia are gathering in Macon for a special conference.
The Georgia Tactical Officers Association also known as GTOA is hosting a law enforcement conference in Macon this week.
The group provides research, development and training to officers and agencies throughout the state.
Local law enforcement officers participated in a shooting tournament on Monday at the Bibb County Sheriff's Office Gun Range.
The GTOA also honored one of Macon Police Department's fallen Swat Commander, Lieutenant Mark Cotton.
A swat tanker was renamed in memory of Lt. Cotton who died from a heart attack in January.
According to GTOA's President, Dennis Valone, Lt. Cotton served as a board member before his death.

" Mark meant a lot to us as a board member," said Valone. "So, we have dedicated the whole conference to Mark."

About 250 officers from Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee are participating in the conference this week.
