Georgia's Highway Safety Officials Send Warning to Drivers This Holiday Season
The state closes in on an unusual spike in highway traffic fatalities in 6 years.

Georgia is on track to experience a spike in the number of highway traffic fatalities this year compared to year's past.
Last year, more than 1,226 people were killed on state roadways.
If that number continues to increase it will be the first time in 6 years.
That's why the Governor's Office of Highway Safety is launching "Operation Safe Holidays" along with "Operation Zero Tolerance."
In a news release, GOHS, Director Harris Blackwood, said," We always take this time of year to remind motorists that impaired driving is against the law 365 days a year in Georgia."
"And while Operation Zero Tolerance is still effect, we also want to urge everyone to be extra careful as they hit the road this time of year. A great Christmas present for me would be seeing everyone get home safe and sound this holiday season."
As part of the operations, state troopers will be out in full force beginning December 14th until New Year's Day looking for impaired drivers.
