A 16-year-old student at Northeast High School was allegedly raped by a group of boys in a school bathroom earlier this year.

Four male students were arrested and charged but after the police investigation, those charges were later dropped.

In recent days, the details of that rape have resurfaced. It’s a law suit naming the Bibb County Board of Education's name as respondent.

The former Northeast High School student and her mother say this situation is far from over, though those accused were not convicted, the family says it's coming forward for justice.

It made headlines in Middle Georgia for weeks. The alleged gang rape that happen at northeast high school. The 16 -year -old female student claimed rape that resulted in 4 male students being charged.

Those charges were soon dropped, but the victim and her family says the school board didn't do their part. "We feel that the school system did not fulfill their obligation to our client,” attorney Jerry Lumley says the system failed his client and her mother." My client wants justice."

He says that the criminal part of the case is done, but he says that his client’s civil rights were violated.

"These young men were not prosecuted as they should be my client wants and opportunity for the truth to be presented,” Lumley adds that his client suffers from anxiety and schizophrenia and before she was questions, those things should have been taken into consideration.

"We want an opportunity to present all the facts of the case, and I think that the public will agree," says Lumley,” he went on to say that he expects a jury will give favorable results their case is presented "and she wants a statement by that conscious, by the community that this is inappropriate and some measure will be taken that it will never happen again."
