Johanna Torres

Johanna Torres is a News Anchor for NewsCentral on ABC 16 and joined the team in November of 2010.


Prior to joining News Central, Johanna worked as an associate producer at WSVN, the FOX affiliate in Miami. She devoted much of her time to helping her family and her little nephew diagnosed with cancer at only 2 years old. It raised her awareness of finding a cure for cancer. So, she likes to get involved with any charity organization that raises awareness and cures for cancer in honor of her nephew.


Born to Dominican parents in New York City, her family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida when she was a young girl, so she considers herself a native of South Florida. She’s rich in culture and is bilingual.


Johanna has always had a passion for being in front of the camera and telling stories. It helped her to follow another passion of performing in front of thousands every Sunday on the gridiron. Johanna was a Miami Dolphins Cheerleader for two seasons, where she had the honor to cheer on her favorite team and travel the world. She also won numerous awards in the world of pageantry. Johanna was Miss Coral Gables 2007-2008 and was fist Runner up at the Miss Florida USA Pageant 2008. She was also a model where she was able to be a feature in commercials, magazines and several music videos


Johanna received her Bachelor’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University in Broadcast Communication and Business Administration. While in College, Johanna interned at WFOR, CBS affiliate in Miami in the news department.


Johanna is a huge football fan and in her spare time she enjoys working out, spending time with family and friends and watching movies.


Johanna is very passionate about her career in broadcast journalism and is happy to call Central Georgia home.
